Ahmad al-Khazraji, son of the former leader of the Iraqi armed forces Lt. Gen. Nizar al-Khazraji stressed yesterday that his father, who fled in March from Denmark where he was in custody, is now in Iraq.
In a statement to the Danish "Politician" paper, al-Khazraji said "we have learnt he is in Iraq and he is in a good health condition and he is involved in politics," noting he did not talk personally with his father, and that the source of this information are "trust worthy persons."
Ahmad denied rumors which said that his father with killed in al-Basra by the end of the war against Iraq. He said "when he want to talk with us he will contact us. We are happy to know that he is alive." He said that al-Khazraji family no longer lives in Denmark but in his house in Norway.
Gen. Khazraji who is suspect regarding war crimes against the Kurds disappeared from Denmark on March 17, just three days before the beginning of the war against Iraq, according to his family which expressed fears that Iraqi agents had kidnapped or assassinated him.
However, the Danish media said he left Denmark on March 15 with the support of the American intelligence.
