Promising News on HiTech use in Iraq
June 9, 2005

By Peyamner:

Kawsar Zubaidi-Baghdad: After just one year of spreading cell phones and internet across the cities of Iraq, the Education Ministry of Iraq informs students about the results of exams through cell phones and internet.

Education Ministry of Iraq announced that it will inform students about the results of the ministerial exams of grade years 9 and 12 through internet and IRAQNA cell phone network. Sabah Jaff, Director General of Examinations at Education Ministry of Iraq informed Peyamner that they undertake this action in order to accelerate informing students about their scores and this is happening for the first time in Iraq.

Jaff also informed that in some areas of Iraq, the ministerial exams did not take place in its due time [because of the violence] and gave Anbar as an example. It was postponed by one month and it is due to start July 2, 2005, however, across the country, the ministerial exams are going on smoothly.

It is worth mentioning that even though cell phone and internet are in use at the Iraqi Kurdistan for several years, an action like this never took place.
