Iraq Foundation's Activities and Updates: August & September 2012
This Month @ The Foundation
August - September 2012 Activities, Issue 72 & 73
Dear Friends,

IF is thrilled to share many the wonderful successes and accomplishments of August and September 2012!

On August 31,  IF concluded the Interfaith Cooperation Project (ICP). This 14-month project brought together teams of young Iraqi men and women from different religious backgrounds and provinces to produce documentaries on significant historic religious sites. The documentaries, viewed by 1 in 4 Iraqis, highlight the rich heritage of religious diversity that lives on in modern Iraq!

IF also engaged youth through the Post Election Democracy Project (PEDP). PEDP youth continued to work in their communities through carrying out small grant and volunteer activities. Upon completing the summer civics camps, youth returned to their provinces to spread awareness of a number of topics including, the constitution, social networking and environmental conservation!

Also during this period, IF held the Lessons Learned Meeting as part of the Women for Equitable Legislation (WEL) project. As part of this meeting, IF brought four regional experts from the Middle East and North Africa to exchange and compare methods of advocating and adopting national legislation based on women's rights.

IF also celebrated the graduation ceremonies of widows participating in the Empowering Iraqi Widows to Thrive (EIWT) project in Baghdad and Basra! Graduates also received gifts at the ceremonies to assist them in their future occupations.

IF invites you to support Nature Iraq's biodiversity projects. Check out the right side panel to learn more!
As always, please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions about our projects or activities.

With best wishes,

ICP Project Concludes

On August 31, IF officially concluded the ICP project. As part of this project, project participants held 63 screenings of the documentaries in 15 provinces, reaching an audience of over 8,000 people. Documentaries were broadcasted on five national Iraqi TV stations. It is estimated that one in four Iraqis has seen at least one of the documentaries!

According to one project participant, "the experience of creating the documentaries demonstrated to my team the positive impact of peaceful coexistence."

IF held a screening on October 9 to highlight the accomplishments and mission of the project. The screening will be covered in next month's newsletter!
