July and August 2011 Activities, Issue 59 / 60

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Iraq Foundation, IF hopes that all our Muslim friends had good Ramadan and enjoyed happy Eid Al-Fitr celebration! IF is committed to providing our supporters with updates on all of our work. IF is please to announce the successful completion of the second year of Youth Civics Camp apart of the PEDP project. IF also held a press conference to announce the publication of a groundbreaking report assessing the Iraqi government's transparency and accountability as well as its ability to safeguard the full spectrum of civil and political liberties, produced as part of the Post Election Democracy Project last month.

IF successfully held the second training workshop in Baghdad, which focused on the art of film editing, for religiously diverse groups of Iraqi students participating in the Interfaith Cooperation Project (ICP). In the coming months, IF is looking forward to being able to share with you the 15 documentaries on Iraq's religious diversity created by our youth participants as a result of this project!

During July, IF continued to produce and broadcast television and radio talk show programs throughout Iraq as part of the Provincial Accountability and Governance project (PAG).

In addition, IF's second training cycle continued in all seven training centers as part of IF's efforts to empower Iraqi widows through life skills education, mentoring and vocational training during July.  IF completed this training cycle during August.  Due to Ramadan, IF will hold a graduation in September for the 270 widows that participated in the training!

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions about our projects or activities!
