The HRAI coalition members held their first Coalition Building Meeting on August 28 2008.

IF conducted a coalition building meeting for the Human Rights Advocacy Initiative (HRAI) coalition members on August 28, 2008. During the meeting, participants discussed the HRAI project’s goal and objectives as well as the project’s future strategies. The human rights coalition is a network of Iraqi human rights NGOs committed to holding the Iraqi government accountable for the state of Iraqis’ civil and political liberties. The coalition member meet quarterly to coordinate advocacy campaigns and reports.  After each meetings, coalition members approach their key contacts in government, at the governorate, parliamentary and ministerial levels with agreed upon advocacy messages and tailored recommendations on how each government official can help to advance a particular human rights cause.
