Workshops at the Human Rights Resource Center
(HRRC)
Baghdad
November,
2005
Iraq Foundation and the Ministry of Human rights (MOHR) started in November 2005 conducting human rights education workshops at the Human Rights Resource Center (HRRC), a joint project established by the two partners at the ministry’s building in Baghdad.
The workshops are designed to focus on the Basic Principles of Human Rights, Human Rights and Development, the Declaration of the Rights of Children, the Mechanisms used by the United Nation (UN) in defending human rights, The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and the UN’s Anti-Torture Convention. The two day workshops are aimed at educating civil servants on human rights issues. IF and MOHR have already trained representatives from several Iraqi ministries, including the Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Sciences and Technology, and Ministry of Education and higher education among others. The trainers at the workshops held at the HRRC are employees of MOHR.
