Human Rights Education Workshop

University of Baghdad

Baghdad
October 17-18, 2006

On October 17-18, the Iraq Foundation held a human rights education workshop for a group of university professors and students that are interested in human rights issues. The workshop was divided into 4 sessions: 1) International Law 2) Women’s and Children’s Rights 3) Citizenship, and 4) the Universal Convention of Human Rights.

The first session started by the trainer collecting the participants’ viewpoints and understanding of what international human rights law is and how it protect human rights. The trainer also introduced commonly used terminology such as human rights abuses, international agreements, and protocols. This was followed by a presentation on international law and the procedures that lead it to its adoption and ratification.
