Opening of the Human Right’s Resource Center

On December 1, 2005, the Iraq Foundation and the Ministry of Human Rights held a ceremony to celebrate the official opening of the Human Rights Resource Center. Some 50 representatives of Iraqi ministries, civil society, and the press attended the ceremony. Among the attendees were representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Education, Higher Education, Interior, Defense, Women’s affairs, Health and, Culture. Other guests included representatives from local and international non governmental organization, including the National Democratic Institute, International Republican Institute, and the United States Institute of Peace. The event was also attended by a group of reporters from al Sabah, al Iraqia, Taakhi, Mada, Sharqiya, Fayha, and Kurdistan TV.

The Acting minister of human rights Narmeen Othman and the Foundation’s Executive Director Rend Rahim welcomed the guests and spoke of the center’s goals and mission. The speakers invited all those working on human rights to take advantage of the center and its free facilities.
