WEP Opening Ceremony
Rasafa, Baghdad August 2008

IF hosted an opening ceremony as part of the Widow’s Empowerment Project (WEP) at the Al-Mustansiriya training institute in Rasafa, Baghdad on August 18 th. The ceremony was held to commemorate the start of the first round of WEP trainings. In addition to reporters and Iraqi widows, IF staff was joined by Ms. Samira Al-Mousawi, MP and Chair of the Women, Family and Child Committee, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Ruba'i, Head of Karada Municipal Council. Following the ceremony, the widows made positive remarks on the opportunities that the training will provide them.
