Youth Civics Camp 2012: Sessions 3-4


The 3rd and the 4th, final Youth civic camps were held from July 1-5 for 5 consecutive days.  Each training group consisted of 25 female and male youth participants.  These two trainings took place at the American University in Iraq- Sulaimaniya (AUI-S) simultaneously. Participants were trained on the following topics:  citizenship, constitutional education, internet democracy, film editing, and social networking (Facebook, Twitter, and blogging).

During the training sessions, youth participants established positive relationships with students from the AUI-S, who helped the participants become familiar with the university. During the extracurricular activities, the participants received information from IF about the concept of civil society organizations, networking mechanisms, the relation between the executive and legislative entities.

Youth were also encouraged to participate in volunteer activities. 30 youth participants from the 3rd and 4th training camps presented 30 volunteering activities’ proposals. The Iraq Foundation will follow up with on these proposed activities.

A group of the AUI-S students organized a football match with youth participants in the camp.  The match took place at the AUI-S football field.    AUI-S students became group members with the participants of the YCC during the training sessions.
